Imanol Alguacil is delight and proud of Miguel Merino as he takes his career to the next level as Arsenal newest signing.

Real Sociedad coach Imanol Alguacil has confirm that Miguel Merino is set to join Arsenal, with the Basque side proud of the work he has done to help the 28-year-old midfielder take his career to the next level, Ufabet reports on Friday.

Real Sociedad have spent weeks in talks with Arsenal over Merino, with an agreement reached for an initial €32.5m plus a further €5m in bonuses, while the Basque side have already signed 21-year-old Croatian midfielder Luca Sučić from Salzburg.

‘I am very happy, I am very proud that Miguel Merino is taking this important step, it speaks volumes about Real Sociedad, the work we have done and especially about him.’

‘He came at 22 and left at 28. He’s a fantastic player. He works well with us. He has UFABET made the team grow. We won cups with him, qualified for Europe five times, an incredible Champions League and we got more than €30m for him. This is the signing we wanted,’ Alguacil said.

Real Sociedad and Arsenal have agreed to his transfer for a fee of 32 million euros plus five million euros in variables, although neither club has made it official yet. The key to this figure being lower than the previously leaked figure is that it offers greater payment facilities.
